
The wasps have set up shop on the branch of a tree just off our back deck. I’ve never seen anything like it. The structure is about 15 inches long and 10 inches across, and the activity around it, and going in and out of that hole at the bottom, is staggering.
On the one hand, usually we have wasp nests popping up around the outside of our house: ie. attached under a windowsill or to the gutter over our heads, and that isn’t happening this year. On the other hand, this looks like a gathering storm. What happens when a bit of wind knocks it off the branch?
