Khandarken Rising, Book One by SylvieGrayson

The best way to start this series.

Sci fi/fantasy at it’s best. Here’s a way to escape for a while 🙂

Major Dante Regiment must find a way to protect Beth, as the Emperor is not the only one causing chaos in Khandarken

The Emperor has been defeated. New countries have arisen from the ashes of the old Empire. The citizens swear they will never need to fight again.

Bethlehem Farmer is helping her brother Abram run Farmer Holdings in south Khandarken after their father died in the final battles. But when Abram takes a trip with Uncle Jade into the northern territory and disappears without a trace, suddenly things are not what they seem and no one can be trusted.

Cabin fever setting in? Here’s a free read…

Dear Readers,

How are you holding up? Is cabin fever setting in? I have to admit I took a drive the other day just to get out of the house. What alarmed me was there were no cars on the highway. Well, okay, there were some cars, but so few I hardly noticed them. And most of the vehicles were delivery trucks—probably making sure we don’t run out of toilet paper, which is a good thing.

My question today is – Do you need something to read?

These are tough times and I’m happy to send you a link for a free download of the first book in The Last War series

Readers comments

5 Stars – . I could not put this down. This is full of mystery, romance, obsession. I can’t wait for the second book. It kept me guessing, with all the twist and turns. Will we get our happy ending ? No spoilers here means u gotta read this, I promise you will enjoy it

5 Stars – Major Dante seeks justice for Beth in the tough world of Khandarken. Loved this book and couldn’t stop reading. Ready for more in this superb story.

5 Stars – I couldn’t help but think to myself while reading this a feeling of deja vu. Like I had heard this story before or like it reminded me of something. And then it hit me. It sounded similar to the fall of the Ottoman Empire after WW1. The new countries that came forth. The battles. The new rulers and emperors fighting to keep their territory. And the citizens, adjusting to the new normal. When I made that connection, I instantly became more excited to keep reading. And then I realized that this story is one of a kind in its own and couldn’t be truly compared to anything but itself. It has so many unique characteristics to it. The personal relationships are intriguing and different from many other fictional relationships. The names are cool, the plot gets thicker with each page, and I loved the author’s style. It became evident that I was addicted to reading the book once I was sad to be finished. I’m going to give this a strong recommendation. It’s my kind of book.

Rainier is a survivor. He’s made some mistakes, and now he’s paying for them. As a condition of his probation, he must work with the police on investigations where his skills might be useful. There is one more case to solve to complete his commitments. Then he’ll be free. Just as he heads undercover to work this last case, Sophia arrives in town. She is a childhood crush who means a great deal to Rain, and she is obviously terrified of someone.

Sophia has made a bad choice in the past, and now she’s in hiding to avoid dealing with it. Still, it follows her, and Rainier is the only one she can trust to help her out.

Rain’s problem? The clues he’s uncovering in his last case all seem to lead directly to Sophia. Can he solve this case without breaking his heart or pointing the police in his girlfriend’s direction?

Reviews –

5 stars, Amazon reviewer—This is another great Sylvie Grayson crime mystery. Thrilling suspense and excellent plot development. I hope there is more about Rain Man and Sophia in future books.

5 stars, Amazon reviewer —Rain is on probation after he gets busted for illegal gambling. One of the conditions he has to fulfill is to help the police on cases involving money laundering. Unfortunately, the case seems to involve his longtime crush, Sophia (or maybe her boyfriend).
This is a well-written story with action, misunderstandings, and redemption. It is an excellent story to get lost in and a good sequel for “The Lies He Told Me”.

Sylvie Grayson Author of Romantic Suspense and Fantasy

We first met Rain Man in The Lies He Told Me

When a police detective falls for his main suspect, life gets complicated.

The Lies He Told Me by Sylvie Grayson

When Chloe Bowman’s husband disappears, never did she imagine that in the midst of the search to find him, she’d discover she didn’t really know this man at all. She’s left alone with her young son and a time bomb on her hands. Lurking in the shadows is the mysterious Rain Man.

Police Detective Ross Cullen was already investigating Chloe’s husband when he  disappeared. But the deeper Ross digs the less he knows,  and the more he’s attracted  to the young widow as she struggles to put her life back together. Can Ross break  through the Rain Man’s disguises to solve the case so he can be with Chloe?

Goodreads review –  5 stars- This is, without a doubt, one of the most twisted, convoluted, complicated books I’ve ever read. I wish I had as much strength as Chloe does. She successfully pulls her life together after her husband disappears. And, she handles even more when she discovers her husband may not have been the man she thought he was. A thought-provoking story with a tough heroine, a hard-as-nails detective, and an explosive HEA.

Amazon review — 5 stars- I have read the four books in the Last War series by this gracious lady and enjoyed them immensely. However, I rarely read contemporary novels and especially mysteries. I have had to change my mind after reading this novel and even stayed up LATE . I had to finish it. SO glad I did! If you have not read them, the Last War series by Ms. Grayson is a terrific set of novels to enjoy. All of her books that I have read so far have been enjoyable reads, no matter what the genre.

Welcome this New Year like never before!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I have a recommendation for you this year— Do What Matters in 2020

Here is some information on how to wind up the old year and welcome the new—with gusto!

  1. Set aside a little time to reflect on 2019. List your best accomplishments.
  2. Express your gratitude. And you can use your list to cover those events.
  3. Keep a positive attitude, and in this way leave the old year behind, and look forward to the new one. Forgive everyone who has hurt you, including yourself. It takes the sting away.
  4. Once you’ve looked at your good times and been thankful, set your goals for the New Year. The list doesn’t have to be long, but focus really helps.
  5. Once the goals are set, break it down into time management chunks, such as three month intervals, or monthly goalposts.
  6. Now is the time to schedule your activity to enable you to reach those goals. The schedule doesn’t have to be set in stone, but it sure helps keep the focus and measure your progress.
  7. In the midst of all that, don’t forget to set aside time to unplug— we all need to refresh and maintain our connections with family and friends.

Well? What do you think? Will this process work? This is the first time I’ve tried it so I’ll let you know how it goes. Have you done this before? Let’s compare results. Leave a comment or send me an email at sylviegraysonauthor@gmail.com
