Sorry, I’ve Been Away

So we spent the month of May travelling. Our first stop was Paris, France. I’ve been there before and it is a fabulous city– so much to see, so many old classical buildings.

We went to the Louvre, reputedly the largest museum in the world, and were astounded by the huge treasure trove of works. Luckily, when the workers went on strike and closed the facility down, it happened after we left Paris. Here are a few pictures of what we saw.

The Louvre was originally the home of the French king, Francis I, which was built on top of an original residence for the monarchy, seen above. When the museum was designed, they created a glass and metal pyramid, where you enter the structure and descend into the ground to tour the displays. I found it astounding, given pyramids are not typical French architecture, yet it is enticing and attractive.

Below, the first statue is positioned in the courtyard of the monarchy residence, and the second one of a Roman warrior is in the Louvre. The painting at the bottom is of a woman warrior. There were many beautiful and well known paintings, and I will post some next time.

Have a great summer!! Best, Sylvie
