My Gratitude for 2023

  1. I am grateful for all the members of my family near and far. We had fourteen wonderful people at the Christmas dinner table this year. They fill my heart with joy.
  2. I give thanks for my two little grandsons who live next door. They often run down the hill when they arrive home from school to tell us a joke. They either made it up on the way home or heard it from a friend at school. So funny.
  3. I am so grateful that I live in the calm country of Canada. When other countries are in the midst of turmoil and war, we get to enjoy the peace of our land.
  4. I enjoy the reviews of my books that my readers leave on so many online sites. It warms my heart that people are enjoying my work.
  5. I give thanks for my critique group, a wonderful band of supporters and readers who give great feedback to help me sort out problems in the current book’s plot, and point out typos and the misuse of words. Their support is what keeps me writing in many ways.

As we approach the New Year (can you believe it?) I’m looking forward with excitement and gratitude to what it might bring.

I wish you all great things in 2024.

Excitement at the Lake

I hadn’t been to the lake all summer and really wanted a swim. So I arranged the day and we set off. There were hobbits there, to my surprise.

The weather was supposed to be sunny with light clouds, but it was soon heavily clouded and a loud rumble began. I thought it was a big truck going up the road behind the lake, but it continued, getting louder. Soon it was right above us, heavy thunder. As it got louder, we looked around wondering where the lightening would appear.

Then it dumped rain, huge pellets of water as we scrambled for our things and ran for the car. By the time we got there and loaded our stuff, we were soaking wet. Not your usual trip to the lake for a swim.

What did you do to bid farewell to the summer? Drop me a comment.

Welcome to 2023

Thank you so much for being part of my community in the last year;— for buying my books in all formats, for being a patron of the blog, for leaving positive reviews on the books and for recommending them to others.

I wouldn’t have this career without you, so thank you and I hope you’ll continue to join me for the year ahead.

So much for quitting the bad habits. 🙂

How did your creative goals go in 2022? Please leave a comment and let me know.

Happy New Year

I just wanted to take the time to wish you all the best for 2023. We are heading into a brand new year and all things are possible. I spent part of the last day of 2022 going through what I had accomplished throughout the year. The list was good, it buoyed me up to read it.

Then I turned a page and tried to list all that I hope to accomplish and finish in the new year of 2023. That list was no longer, but contained a few things that had been on last year’s list but never got complete. I’m okay with that. I feel I gave it my best effort, so if a few things fell off the table, I’ll just give it another try this coming year.

We went with our daughter and two grandsons, aged 5 and 8, to see the light show at the world famous Butchart Gardens for New Year’s Eve. Here are a couple of photos from our visit.

Lights that look like butterfly wings in the dark
Trees captured by the lights.

What did you do for New Year’s Eve?
